Category 7 Cancel Tour Over Poor Ticket Sales

It’s an announcement that no band wants to make, let alone a supergroup of this caliber, but Category 7 publicly revealed that their March 2025 U.S. tour has been axed due to low ticket sales figures.

Comprised of John Bush (Armored Saint, Anthrax), Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob, Sonic Universe), Phil Demmel (Machine Head, Kerry King, Vio-Lence), Jack Gibson (Exodus), and Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall, Overkill), you’d think such a star-studded band would be able to garner enough attention to warrant a tour in support of their self-titled debut album, but it seems that just wasn’t the case.

The cancellation of the band’s 14-show run was announced via social media with the following message:

“With the overwhelming competition for the live show dollar, we feel that our projected ticket sales will not be enough for our tour to be profitable, so we have made the painful decision to cancel our tour in March.

“The cost of touring continues to go up and while we had no illusion of big profits, at least breaking even was a goal which after speaking to our agent and the promoters of the shows did not seem achievable.

“We appreciate everyone that is enjoying our music, and we will continue to attempt to find a way to bring the live show on the road.

“In making this decision now it will enable everyone to get refunds before Christmas. All VIP purchases will be immediately refunded.

“Thank you again for the support for Category 7.”

As is often the case with this sort of cancellation, the decision to put the kibosh on this run affected more than just Category 7, as Exhorder, Hand of the Tribe, Dead By Wednesday, and Engineered Society Project were all supposed to provide support on the tour in one capacity or another. All those musicians, as well as all the support staff, venue employees, etc. are now getting less work as a result too. It’s just a big bummer all around.
