Get ready to “roll initiative” everyone!

San Jose’s Dungeon Crawl is back with a new song from their upcoming album, Maze Controller. The track, “+1 Mace,” showcases the band’s various influences from across the heavy metal player’s handbook, from thrash metal, death metal, power metal, and orchestral metal — all converging into an impressive homebrew sound all their own. The only thing I can really compare it to is VHS’s recent album, Quest for the Mighty Riff, albeit with a little less extreme metal in the mix. But regardless, the band is rolling with advantage in terms of musical prowess. And before I made any more DnD puns, we should hear the band describe the song themselves.

According to the band:

“”+1 Mace” is a triumphant song that’ll have listeners banging their heads with catchy riffs and grooves, while simultaneously feeling victorious from the hooks and huge chorus. The lyrical concept is based on an overzealous Paladin who brandishes the titular “+1 Mace” to vanquish anyone he deems to be a threat, attributing his actions to a divine calling. Get ready to bust out those foam LARP weapons, head to the battlefield, and deal some damage!”

Maze Controller comes out on September 20 via Carbonized Records. So make sure your party is all buffed for this one, because someone definitely cast “Bless” on this record. Ok, I’ll stop now, I promise.
