The Jesus Lizard Drop First New Single in 26 Years…

It was reported yesterday that after roughly 26 years since the release of their last album, 1998’s Blue, the Jesus Lizard would be making a return with some new music today. Well, they sure as hell delivered with not only the release of their first new single in that long, but we now know we’ve got a whole new album to get stoked for later this year.
Starting with the album, titled Rack, that bad boy’s coming out on September 13 via Ipecac Recordings and will feature 11 new songs. In a bid to get you fucking stoked for this new record, which let’s be real — you shouldn’t need much hyping up at this point — they released the first single “Hide & Seek.” Described by David Yow as “a perky ditty about a witch who can’t behave, and it’s got nearly as many hooks as a Mike Tyson fight,” it kicks about as much ass as you’d expect from the Jesus Lizard even with so much time between releases.
As for why the band decided to hit us with a new record after most recently getting back together for some shows back in 2009, David Wm. Sims said it was for the fun of it all, while Mac McNeilly said it’s the result of the band’s closeness to one another.
“We are bonded by the music we make, and also by the respect we have for each other.”
Rack will be released on September 13 via Ipecac Recordings and will be available in various formats once it drops, but you can preorder your copy today.
The band also has a number of tour dates lined up, starting tomorrow in Nashville, Tennessee and going well into 2025. You can find the full list of tour dates below. Tickets for the dates between October 31 and May 10, 2025 will go on sale this Friday.
