I don’t know if you know this, but the dude that’s playing drums for Slipknot these days — ex-Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande — is a fucking monster behind the kit. Not only does he punish those drums and cymbals like they owe him money, but he’s just so technically sound that it’s hard not to get mesmerized any time you watch the guy play.

Case and point is the recent drum cam footage of him playing “Disasterpiece” that he posted on his Instagram page. In his post, he did the thing we all did back in high school where his status was a set of lyrics, sharing “Is there another way to live? / ‘Cause it’s the only way to die.”

Not only did fans lose their minds over the footage, but notable metal musicians also chimed in recognizing Casagrande’s talents. Folks like Periphery’s Misha Mansoor, System of a Down’s Shavo Odadjian, and Slayer/Exodus’ Gary Holt shared their praise, just to name a few.

Casagrande joined the band shortly after they decided to move on from former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg. Since then, he’s been touring with Slipknot on their 25th anniversary tour and has even gone so far as to record a new single with the band, though we haven’t heard anything about that yet.
