Hours before they were set to take the stage tonight for the first show of their spring tour, Fuming Mouth announced that they were moving on without guitarist Andrew Budwey.

In a statement posted to the band’s socials, the remaining members said that “now is not the time for [Budwey] to be in the band.” And while they said they still care for him and wish him the best moving forward, the band will deal with Budwey’s ousting by reverting back to a three-piece band. As a result, the band is now comprised of vocalist/guitarist Mark Whelan, Pat Merson on bass, and Keith Goldoni on drums.

The band’s statement is as follows:

“The slightly complicated band history of Fuming Mouth goes back to 2013 when three guys, Mark Whelan, Rob Pironti, and Ethan Hall joined together as Fuming Mouth. Within three years the band had released two demos, a split, and a single called ‘Sword and Scale’. The three toured out to the west coast and played locally as well.

“Creative differences saw Mark and Rob on a different page with Ethan caught in the middle. The three split apart and Fuming Mouth continued with Mark Whelan.

“Soon there were many fills in but only one official member, Andrew Budwey. Andrew would be a part of the band from the first album up until now. Sadly, now is not the right time for him to be in the band. We love him and wish him the best with everything.

“Fuming Mouth is continuing as a 3 piece again. Pat Merson will be playing bass and Keith Goldoni will be playing drums. We play Chapel Hill, North Carolina tonight and then head to Welcome to Rockville, followed by Sonic Temple Festival. See you on the road.”

This is the second lineup change in six months, as they also parted ways with drummer James Davis this past December.

Despite the lineup change, Fuming Mouth is still set to start their U.S. tour tonight in Chapel Hill, North Carolina The tour will run until its final show on May 21 in Hartford, Connecticut. After a couple weeks off, they’ll then head back out for two more shows: one on June 1 in Colorado Springs, Colorado and another on June 15 in Boston, Massachusetts for Storm Fest.
