Sarcophagum
From the shadows of Australia’s plague-stricken chaos in 2021, Sarcophagum emerged as a studio-only project, a channel for members of Golgothan Remains past and present to explore new ideas and sonic realms. Today, Decibel is proud to present their full-length debut, The Grand Arc of Madness, streaming in its entirety ahead of its December 6 release via Nuclear Winter Records.
“The Grand Arc of Madness is finally unearthed,” the band shares. “Building upon the sounds created on our first EP and subsequent single, these four tracks showcase our mix of angular dissonance and ethereal atmosphere. A work of darkness that will consume all.”
Sarcophagum crafts their angular brand of death metal with unrelenting dissonance and an oppressive atmosphere that fans of Ulcerate, Immolation, and Adversarial will find hauntingly familiar yet uniquely their own. Tracks like “Ritual Pillars Burn” and “Feudal Futures” seamlessly fuse chaotic primal crush with eerie melodic flourishes, forging a soundscape that feels both cerebral and devastatingly visceral. From the slow, suffocating churn of “Vermiform” to the epic, narrative-driven title track, The Grand Arc of Madness is a journey into a bleak, harrowing abyss.
Mixed and mastered by Greg Chandler at Priory Recording Studios, the album’s dense, crushing production enhances its unsettling character. The cover art by Khaos Diktator is no less striking, visually embodying the sense of discord and dread that runs through every note of the record.
