Hematoxin – Thrash and Prog-metal from Pittsburgh
How about 29 minutes of blended thrash-prog to start your Wednesday? Beginning with their debut Between Forever …and the End in 2013, followed by the Alchemist EP, Hemotoxin continued to evolve with their 2016 release Biological Enslavement and 2020’s Restructure the Molded Mind.
Now, with the help of fellow Ripped to Shreds bandmate Andrew Lee and long-time friend Scott Fuller on drums, the Pittsburgh-based band has returned better than ever with When Time Becomes Loss—a harmonious blend of discordant yet ruminative elements crafted by riff-mogul Michael Anthony Chavez that defibrillate with a fervent flame of victorious thrash.
When Time Becomes Loss features a stellar lineup of collaborators and guest musicians who enhance its intricacies. Scott Fuller (Annihilated, ex-Morbid Angel, ex-Havok) is all-powerful throughout, and guest guitar solos by Donnie Small (Laceration, Embryonic Devourment), Andrew Lee (Ripped To Shreds, Azath, Reaver), and Tony Barhoum (Condition Critical, Ex Dementia) only deepen the affair with further layers of virtuosity.
Recorded and mixed by Andrew Lee at The Weeb Dungeon and mastered by Justin Weis at Trackworx Studio (Agalloch, High On Fire, Pallbearer), the album’s cover artwork—created by Mark Cooper (Slaughterday, Master, Thanatos)—visually encapsulates its themes and musical intensity.
This highly anticipated fourth full-length album is an excellent addition to the band’s progressive thrash metal legacy, scheduled for release on Friday through Pulverised Records, and a must-listen for fans of Revocation, Havok, Death and Hexen.
But you don’t have to wait until Friday – check out the full album stream right now, only at Decibel, and pre-order the album here.
